Stonehaven is a small coastal town known as the Gateway to the Highlands and Royal Deeside having many facilities for the tourist. Arduthie House is an ideal base for a visit to the very impressive ruins of Dunnottar Castle , the picturesque harbour with it's Tolbooth museum and at the north end of the bay a challenging hilltop golf course. Guests may wish to enjoy a midnight swim during the summer months in Scotland 's only outdoor heated swimming pool.
